Power: Repowering of a Power Facility Astoria, New York, 2001 |

Orion Power hired Michael Singer in 2001 to design the site landscape, architecture, and identify community program opportunities for an existing facility on the East River overlooking Manhattan. Michael chose a team consisting of Marcus Springer, architect at Cannon Design, Michael Fishman, urban designer at Sam Schwartz Company, Carter Craft, director at Metropolitan Waterfront Alliance, Jaimie Cloud, director at Sustainability Educational Center, Richard Rabinowitz at American History Workshop, Tony McLaughlin engineer at Buro Happold, Jason Bregman, environmental designer, and John Guminak, draftsman . The Singer Design Team demonstrated how the site and building design could house educational programs, cultural programs and recreational amenities that improves the aesthetic appearance and enhances the vitality of the local community. The project is currently undergoing the New York State Article 10 review process.
